Welcome to Whittlesey Festival

Whittlesey festival began 16 years ago as one of the Fenland Council supported four seasons events and has been held every year with the exception of the THREE missed during the pandemic. The original committee set out to provide an all inclusive September event to bring the community together.

In recent years it has grown to include a parade through the streets, led by a marching band followed by local groups, clubs, organisations and various entertainment performances focused around the town Square. Later inclusion of the church and yard as performance and activity areas has enabled additional funfair rides for the children, a static display of over 100 vintage and classic vehicles along with an art exhibition and competition for all the local schools.

Local charity and craft stalls now line the streets and businesses are invited to sponsor the event. Over the years the festival has grown into a multi cultural day of celebration which has increased the variety of attractions, mix of genres and increased visitor capacity to the current successful experience it has become.

The Festival is organised by a steering committee, which is made up of people with unique skills that complement the events’ needs. They put together a programme of acts and performers, supported by a partners committee, drawn from the groups, organisations and residents who are instrumental in delivering the overall event.
